What to Do If Your Refrigerator Doesn’t Turn On After a Power Outage
A Real Case
After a sudden power outage in my neighborhood, my refrigerator didn’t start when the electricity came back. The lights inside were off, the motor was silent, and I was worried that all my food would spoil. I almost called a repair service, but before that I decided to check the manual. It contained a section about power failures that helped me solve the problem on my own.
Why a Refrigerator Might Not Start After Power Loss
Tripped circuit breaker. A sudden surge can cause the breaker to shut off.
Blown fuse in the plug. Some models use plugs with safety fuses.
Built-in delay function. Many refrigerators wait several minutes before restarting.
Power surge damage. Internal components may temporarily lock after a spike.
Loose power cord. The plug may shift slightly during an outage or surge.
